EUSTORY Summit 2018

Making Peace with History

14–19 November 2018, Berlin

The iconic year of 2018 brought about many historic occasions to reflect the history of war and peace in Europe: It has been, for example, 10 years since the declaration of independence of Kosovo and the Georgian-Russian armed conflict, 50 years since the Prague Spring and the students’ movements in Europe, 100 years since the end of World War I and 400 years since the beginning of the Thirty Years’ War. 120 participants shared their perspectives on the past and the experience that history does not only divide us, but can also serve as a starting point for international understanding.

Participants' Highlights

Mapping Europe

Photos: © Körber-Stiftung

We wanted to know and share with others how the EUSTORY Summit participants as young people see Europe today. They visualised their thoughts on the current state of Europe: Which regions are familiar to them, do they see any division lines or gaps, and which are the unknown parts waiting to be explored by them? The participants got creative and used a kit of craft materials to visualise their interpretation of the state of Europe for their peers!
