My Personal Symbol of Adolescence

Do you know the feeling of nostalgia that overwhelms you when some kind of forgotten and seemingly ordinary thing gets into your hands? An old photo, a children’s toy or a banal cup. It is important that it is a symbol of something special in our lives. This happened to our editor Taras, in whose life an unexpected silent companion turned up in a time of transition.

Pretty in Pink

As kids we perceive things differently. Music sounds special and there is no better taste than the one of candy. There are some things we see through rose-coloured glasses, one could say. But while growing up, the glasses lose their colour, many things become clearer and more important than the taste of candies. However, for our author Trixi there is one item that hasn’t lost any pinkness over time – in fact, quite the opposite.

A Map of Friendship

During international seminars and History Camps you can meet people from all over Europe and form intense friendships. After these events distance and new circumstances sometimes present a challenge, even for the closest friendships. In his MEMORY SUITCASE Phillip shares his experience in making cross-border friendships and reconnecting with them years later. A hand-made paper map became a symbol of this friendship.

A Memory You Can Wear

Let’s play a quick game: Imagine your house is on fire and you can only save a single item, the one you care about the most. What would you pick? Furniture, clothes or a TV can be replaced easily, but an item carrying a particular memory cannot. Our author Jonas pondered this question, read here, which item he would save from destruction and why.
